How to make Biryani at Home | Potfull

Biryani is probably one of the most complete meals in itself and can satisfy one’s hunger craving at any time of day. We all love to try varieties of biryanis from different eateries but find it very hard to make it at home. There is always some magical mix of spices that makes Biryani so much flavorful when we eat it outside. And when we talk about a brand, the first few names that come in Bangalore include Meghana Food, Mani’s Dum Biryani, Potfull, Behrouz, Paradise, Krutunga. Among these, there is one brand that has come up with a unique concept of DIY – Dot It Yourself.

Potfull – Dum Lagao Biryani Banao
To make it simpler for people to make their own Biryani, Potfull has come up with an amazing concept. Order for ‘Make your Biryani’ at home and you can make it at the comfort of home.
They sure do have a cool tagline called ‘ Dum Lago Biryani Banoa‘. That just goes to say that one can put a little effort and make Biryani at home.
Concept
To make it simple, they have segregated the most essential items that go into a Biryani.
Biryani Masala, Basmati Rice, Saffron Water, Ghee & Fried Onion.
All one needs to do is to follow instructions, just like the way its mentioned. And you will not believe your eyes when the Dum Biryani is ready. It looks exactly like, what we get when the product is made in their kitchen and brought home. The best part is the aroma while cooking, it fills the home when Biryani is being made and it lingers on for a few hrs.
Variants
They currently have multiple options for Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians. I personally tried the Vegetarian Biryani options.
Hyderabadi Veg Dum Biryani
The gravy of the Biryani is so amazing that one can smell the aroma fill the room while it’s being cooked. Biyani has plenty of masala and most important multiple vegetables that get cooked very well.
The only caution that needs to be taken care, always cooks in low-flame, no even to the middle level. Also, avoid adding any water as the taste can get diluted easily.
Hyderabadi Paneer Tikka Dum Biryani
This one biryani that comes with the Paneer Tikka Masala and nearly 8 huge pieces of Paneer in them. I followed the instruction and was able to get the Biryani cooked very well. None of the items were over-cooking and it was all perfect. But compared to Hyderabadi Veg Biryani, I did not get the aroma of spices as much. Biryani sure did come together when all the spices were mixed.
As a caution, similar to the time when I made earlier Birayni, its best to cook in low-flow. There were a few shortcomings compared to the previous biryani. Paneer was undercooked even after cooking for 25mts. And also the spices were not as strong compared ot the Hyderabadi Veg Biryani.
Additional Items
There are a couple of items that can be ordered along with the Biryani mix.
Salan/Gravy, Raita, Jamoon
If you find the gravy in the Biryani masala to be a little lesser, some amount of gravy can be added. Almost at the end of the meal, you can add a raita that brings its own flavors.
Jamoon was very good as it was soft, round and large. The sugar syrup seems to have soaked the sweetness very well.
Overall Experience
It is great to see a brand like Potfull coming up with this novel concept of making Biryani at home. The promoters of the brand thought of doing this to make Biryani at home and feel a sense of achievement. I enjoyed both the Biraynis pretty much and definitely think of ordering it in the future. My recommendation is that’s a good value for money.
