Sattvic Food to energize body at Sattvam
We all love to explore good food and desire to have something that will energize our body & mind. Sattvic food lays emphasis on seasonal foods, fruits, dairy products, nuts, seeds, oils, & non-meat-based proteins. Consuming the Sattvic food that’s also considered ‘rajasic’ is known to increase the energy of the body.
In Bangalore, there are very few places that focus on serving Sattvic food. Sattvam Restaurant leads the way when it comes to serving the best Sattvic food. The popularity and success has given the confidence for the owners to open 3 outlets across 3 areas in the city – Sadashivnagar, JP Nagar & latest at Whitefield. I got an opportunity to visit the Whitefield outlet for dinner and experience the saatvic food.
- The moment I entered the restaurant, I felt so much at peace as the place had pleasant & positive vibes. Entrance has these beautiful artworks that lets one remember the Jagannath Puri Temple.
- As one steps inside the restaurant, one can see beautiful huge photo of the temple and another picture of Swamiji at ISKON.
- The seating arrangement looks exquisite with some amazing upholsters and comfortable. Seating arrangements allow a small/big group to dine. The restaurant can cater to 140 guests at a time.
- Every seat is neatly setup with the cutlery’s and napkin.
- The interiors have been done well and the owners have taken special care in getting it right. There’s an artwork inside the restaurant inspired by pilgrims going to the Jaganath Puri temple.
- Soothing music is played in the background that’s helps in relaxing while enjoying good food.
The restaurant serves buffet for all the guests, all days of week for lunch/dinner. To make the dining section very clean, the dishes part of buffet are kept at one end.
Crackers with chutneys
These are appetizers kept in every seat. Along with the crackers, they serve Bell Pepper chutney, Raw Mango + Mustard infused chutney, Peanut Chutney, Salsa salad.
This was probably the best corn soup I have had in a while as it had the perfect balance of flavours and spices.
Paneer Tikka, Bharwan Aloo, Subz lacheela kabab, Dahi Bhari Tikki, Crackling Spinach, Vegetable Momo
People looking to dine-out are always on the look for more starters compared to the main-course. Sattvam has a great selection of tasty starters that can make anyone happy.
I loved the Paneer Tikka as I thought that the Paneer was soft, and spices added on top was well balanced. The ‘Crackling Spinach’ dish was also amazing as it had perfect balance of sweetness, tangy & salt in it. Another dish I loved was the Dahi Bhari Tikki that had the filling of curd inside Tikki that tasted very good.
Anardana panipuri shot, Bhel Taco
Sattvam team work hard on putting together some unique dishes for guests. The latest addition is the Pomegranate Pani Puri. Instead of serving the Pani Puri with Jal Jeera flavoured water, they add Pomegrante juice along with the masala. Another unique chat was the Taco Bhel, in which the bhel mixture is served between a Taco. The presentation is amazing, and one gets unique taste.
For eating the starters, one needs to head to the buffet counter that had huge collection.
Mini idli with chutneypodi, Raw banana bhajji
Mini idli has become a popular dish that’s become part of buffets. The idlis are flavoured by sprinkling chutney powder on it. Another favorite among locals, the Raw Banana Bhajji is also part of the buffet.
Paneer lal mirch, Angrezi sabzi desi andaaz, Hari moong ke kofte, Chota samosa hara palak, Sattvik Biriyani, Kheeray ka raita, Sattvika, Kuti mirch ka kulcha
There is plenty gravy dishes part of the buffet served along with mini version of Amritsari Kulcha & Laccha Paratha. I personally loved the Paneer, Angrezi subzi, Palak & Moong kofte curry.
Puliogere, Masala chitranna, Curd rice, Drumstick Sambhar, Rasam
We all love eating rice but prefer taking it in smaller portion so we can keep the weight at check. At Sattvam, they serve Puliyogre & Chitranna in a mini cooker. This lets anyone get 1-2 bites of the rice dish, that’s perfect considering there are multiple dishes part of buffet. Drumstick sambar looked very good as it had well-cooked drumstick and sambar gave a nice aroma.
Chole bhature, Mini masala dose, Rabdi Malpua, Hand tossed pizza, Pasta station, Cold stone ice cream
Apart dishes I mentioned above, they have live counter where one can enjoy any of the dishes mentioned above. I personally loved the Chole Bhature served with soft & tasty batura, Hand-tossed pizza with loads of veg toppings.
Fruit Malai Ghewar, Ragi semiyan payasam, Sugarfree rasmadhuri, Lancha
I loved the Fruit Malai Ghewar as the combination was tasty. Traditional sweets like Jamoon & Payasam were also very done. The taste was very homely.
Assorted pastries – Chocolate fountain with mini muffins
After having heavy food, I felt like stopping myself from eating further. But the muffins and chocolate fountain were irresistible. Assorted ice-creams were also part of the buffet.
Kesar Shikanji & Strawberry Shake
Kesar Shikanji was just amazing as it had Saffron that acts a stimulant tonic for treating cold & fever.
Paan – The final item served in the meal is the ‘Paan’ that made inhouse. They avoid adding the white lime to keep it sattvic.
This was one of Vegetarian food I have had in a long time. Every dish was packed with flavors and I relished the taste. Even after eating the dinner, it did not feel very heavy on my stomach. And the end of it I felt very relaxed and energized.
Kudos of the effort of Chef Aditya Fatehpuri and Aravind for setting up this beautiful place. Special thanks to the service staff who were always prompt with their service.
The opening of Sattvam new outlet in Whitefield is like a blessing for the residents in the area. Sattvam also has valet parking service that very convenient.
