The Black Rabbit | Popular Pub | Indiranagar | Bangalore

Advertisements

Black Rabbit is one of the popular pubs in a busy Indiranagar area for their food & cocktails.  It’s a place frequently by partygoers, everyone loves to hang out in rustic ambiance and chilled out vibes.  The cocktails & food in the place are also quite popular.  Now, the brand has roped in expert Chef Shaikh Istekhar to add more varieties and bring in Indian flavors.  Celebrated Chef has years of experience working in multiple large hotels across the world.  I recently visited Black Rabbit with a bunch of friends, and we wanted to try out a variety of dishes.IMG_20200310_171638

Ambiance

The place has been set up very well with a huge sitting space inside and outside that’s covered with transparent sheets.

One can see the sky if you take a seat outside and it sure is the most sort after seat.

There are exceptional paintings & artwork inside the restaurant, especially the one on the roof. Every seat has a touch of rustic wood that looks so amazing.  I loved the vibes of the place.

Food

The place might be popular for good drinks but it’s necessary to get the food right.

Small Plates

Baked ‘mushroom Spinach’ Cheddar, Crispy Potato Skins, Charcoal Grilled Potatoes, Bombay Pav Bhaji, Paneer Kalimirch Roast

Every dish has its own specialty but my favorite among these would be the Pav Bhaji served with Mini-Paav.  Kalimirch Roast Paneer has the right balance of flavors coming from soft Paneer & spices added on top of paneer pieces.

Another dish that’s quite unique the Mushroom Spinach dish that’s served like polti/small sack.  I also loved Crispy Potato skin that was crispy, had a good amount of cheese topped with grated onion & tomato.

Few non-veg dishes that are popular include Chicken Rajputana Ghee Roast, Nasila Buttermilk Fried Chicken.

Deep Dish Pizza

Manchurian

Loved this pizza that comes all fluffed-up and one only sees only the cheese cover on top.  The person serving comes up to the seats and slices the pizza to reveal the stuffing.  The taste of pizza is quite amazing.

There are multiple varieties of Non-Veg Pizza – Thin Crust Pizza (Bianco Garlic Butter) and Deep Dish Pizza (Chicago Deep Dish, Barbeque Chicken).

Large Plates

Paneer Makhani, Grill Butter with Naan & Saffron rice

This is an Indian dish that’s usually found in any fine-dine restaurant.  Glad to enjoy the flavors in a casual dining restaurant like Black Rabbit.  Chef has done an amazing job to have the right spice level, tomato-based gravy & soft paneer.  The dish is far better than many of the restaurants that specialize in serving North Indian food.

There are plenty of options for non-veg lovers like Kashmiri Chicken Kofta Curry, Dhaba Gosht.

Desserts

Chocolate & Walnut Tart, Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding, Sweet Carrot Tart

This is always the best part of the meal.  I loved the chocolate oozing from the top, along with the Toffee pudding layer and drop onto the plate.  The taste of the dessert along with vanilla ice-cream was just amazing.

Chocolate Walnut Tart had a nice bit of chocolate served on top of the tart.  It isn’t a heavy dessert and one can relish having the same.

The unique dessert to be presented was the Sweet Carrot Tart as they served Carrot Halwa in the tart.  The best part of the dessert was that it wasn’t too sweet.  The only suggestion I made to chef was to make it a little moister by adding khoya/cream into the grated carrot mix.

Beverages

Watermelon Cooler

This was the best drink to be taken on a warm afternoon as watermelon flavor was quite evident.  They also have many other mocktails variants like Hawaiian Sunrise, Mango & Tango.

The place offers multiple cocktails to guests, hoping to try them out soon and share feedback.

Final Thoughts

It was a wonderful afternoon spent well spent at Black Rabbit trying the food. There was some standout dishes that I loved, and I will go back to eating then again. I can now declare that this place is not just good for a party but also have some exceptionally amazing food.
