Advertisements

Farzi Café at UB City, Bangalore is undoubtedly the Best Modern Indian Dining Restaurant in the city.  The café’s has multiple accolades in various food awards like Times Food Awards, Eazy Diner Awards and recently at Food Food Awards 2018.  At Farzi Café, the team constantly looks to innovate and bring new dishes to the guests.  Latest trends observed by the management has resulted in a new set of Vegetarian dishes being introduced.  After a lot of trial and error, they have come up with 18 new dishes for different courses of meal.  I was invited for special tasting on a beautiful sunday to taste the new vegetarian dishes in Starters, Main Course & Desserts.

Farzi New Veg Menu

Starters

Amuse Bouche, Khao suey veg

Edamame hummus, Kori roti crisp

Beetroot koshimbir, Beet Carpaccio

Edamame & Aloo Samosa Pinwheel Chaat

Spinach & Ricotta Kulcha

Beetroot cream Desi Curd poppers with smoked tomato chutney

Kadak Sheek

Among these I loved the Edamame hummus as it tasted very creamy leaving a nice after taste on the tongue.  It went along very well with the Crisp Kori Roti and hard to resist after taking little portion.

Another dish that tasted amazing was the Edamame Aloo Samosa Pinwheel.  This special is a modification of our traditional samosa but presented in the most unique manner.  But one can still get the contemporary taste of the samosa.

I might have just mentioned two items but every other dish also tasted very good and presented well.

Palette Cleanser

Herb Tempered Yogurt Sorbet

Traditionally we before moving from Starter to main course, its good cleanse one’s tongue.  This lets one enjoy the flavors of the spices in the main-course to be felt more evidently.

Main Course

Meethi Makai Mac & Cheese

Jalfrezi Lasagna

Old Airport style Desi Chow Mein

Jalfrezi Lasagne was just amazing dish as it was served along with nice spiced gravy.  One can taste the Lasagna by itself or take it along with the spiced kulcha.  The famous and popular Italian dish has been remade in Indian style.

Desserts

Nendra Banana custard tart, Tender Coconut Ice Cream

The plating of this dessert is so amazing that I found it hard to take a bite from it. But then once I started, I was not able to resist myself.

Red Velvet Bebinca Mix berry ice cream

Another beautifully presented dessert that was just amazing. Sometimes I wonder why the desserts are served in the last part of the meal.  Given a choice I would very much love to start my meal with this tasty dessert.

Drinks

Farzi Café is also known to for its wonderful cocktails, mocktails and craft beers.

There are four different flavours of craft beers – Hefeweizen, Indian Pale Ale (IPA), Masala Saison & Stout.

Along with the beers, they also serve some amazing cocktails that are served in the most unique glasses.  Among all the cocktails I tasted, I specially loved the “Express Martini” that tasted amazing with the infusion of coffee.

My Final Thought

Thanks to the Zorawar Kalra, Owner of Farzi Cafe for being the motivator behind all the new dishes.  It always feels special visiting Farzi as the staff are always radiant and very enthusiastic.  A special mention of Rekha Ghosh, who always welcomes guest with a smile.  She has been the person instrumental in bringing up this Farzi at Bangalore and seeing through all the operations.

I specially recommend everyone to visit the restaurant along with friends and family. Even if you have come here before, you will be surprised to find some unique dishes.
