Goli Vada Pav – Next Innovation

Advertisements
Goli Vada Pav is one of the household names that has been in the business since 2004.  It has come to a place like Bangalore along with the IT Boom and made a mark for itself.  The first time this place came to Bangalore, I started to wonder how can there be a place dedicated to serving only Vada Pav.  Coz I was always under impression that it is a typical chat item available with the chaat-wala(s) in places like eat-street or near BDA complexes in Bangalore.  And traditionally the favorites in the city have been the masala puri, pani puri, bhel puri, pav bhaji, dhabeli and other items.  But then when I first visit the place, I came to know of the variants that can be attempted with the Vada-Pav itself.  It need not be just the ‘Aloo’ based ‘Vada’ but yes it can have many more things.  In matter of no time, it has grabbed the attention of many in the city.  I am glad to do a review of few of their new products that are introduced into the market.
Background
A traditional snack favourite among the Maharashtra folks is the Pohe and Vada Pav.  Venkatesh Iyer and Shivdas Menon who were earlier into the world of finance, decided to venture into the business of making Vada Pav.  Inspite of all the ups and down they have survived to establish a company that has nearly 350 stores across 19 states and 88 cities across the country.  The turnover has crossed 50 crores and their success is being spoken of at the top International Business schools like Harvard.
I thought of throwing some light into the thought flow that might have gone behind bring up a product like this.  Innovation is the mantra that bring in changes that can sweet us of the floor.  And people who think differently are very successfully.  An item like Vada-Pav was thought to be a quick eat. But then focussing a shop only on that would give more focus and let new thoughts flow in.  This is exactly the idea behind opening this chain.
This is also an item that can be consumed anytime.  The only thing that needs to be kept in mind is the quality which need to be consistent across all stores.  To be able to do that I am sure they have special training to make sure the folks taking franchise pick up the right items and make the same Vada Pav in Bangalore, like the one made in Mumbai.
New Products
A chain like this can’t just sit back with the past laurels.  They need to keep innovating and this is what has made them to come out with 4 unique Veg Vada Pav options which I got an opportunity to try recently.  Let me share some of my experience.

Paneer Supreme Vada Pav
This is one of the best Vada Pav I have had in recent times.  The patty is more like the paneer-pakoda which is kept between the 2 soft Pav Buns.  There is cream added in between.  When you consume the same with the chilli it become more awesome.  I need to specially mention about the paneer which is quite soft and just melts in your mouth.
I think this will become easily the favourite among the public.

Maharaja Vada Pav
The special ingredient inside this is the mayo cream which is right in between bread and patty.  Name for this comes from the fact that the Patty is quite huge.  Consuming one of this will make it quite heavy on stomach.  Just a snack can become a meal in itself.

Crispy Vada Pav
This has a nice and crunchy patty in between the 2 Pav Buns.  The preparation is quite simple coz it has Pav, patty and ketchup.  There is nothing too fancy in terms of look but the magic is created by the complete combination.  When you are hungry, this can easily comfort our stomach.
The same can be consumed with some chilli if you want it to be spicier.  Whatever you try the overall taste will be really good.

Classic Vada Pav
There can be many variations brought in inside the patty apart from what I have mentioned but then the evergreen flavour will always come from the ‘Class Vada Pav’.  The taste of it is quite good as it has the aloo filled patty.  With the chilly and then addition of some ketchup, the taste is quite good.
