Exhale – The Revival Spa at RMV 2nd Stage, Bengaluru
We are all subject to immense stress at various fronts in our life and there’s little done to relieve us of the stress. The reasons for the stress could be many – work-pressure, family commitments, maintaining relationships, personal well-being or more. In the fast pace world, where everyone is scampering for time, people also find it hard to find time. Many people who do so, plan for going out on holiday & feel relaxed. But, if one doesn’t have time or has no holiday left, the best place to relax & rejuvenate would be to visit a spa. I recently visited “Exhale – The Revival Spa” that has come up in busy New BEL Road, Bangalore.
At Exhale Spa
The spa was started by Mrs.Lin and her partner nearly six months back. It was her dream to start since nearly 3 years. After a lot of research on various massages and certification, she decided to invest in opening a spa. The next step was to be able to find the right location to make it more accessible to people. Exhale spa opened its first branch in Kamanahalli and now the latest one at New BEL Road. I will be sharing more info on spa and the experience.

Interiors
- The entrance of the spa looks very good with warm-white lighting that makes anyone feel very relaxed.
- Bamboos have been used in the main reception section which looks good and very different.
- Ceiling and wallpaper have been nicely covered with wall-papers that have traditional pattern made in gold with maroon background.
- There’s a small artwork at one side of reception where water continuously keeps pouring down, make it look like a miniature water-fall.
- The spa has two section – one side had massage room and the other for doing the add-on services.
- Section leading to massage rooms look quite neat with nicely setup wall-papers and lighting. One needs to remove footwear and wear the one provided by spa before entering massage rooms section. There are some nice paintings, flower-vase and vase with flowers which enhances the decor.
- The individual massage room looks very good and have nice lighting arrangement. A special artwork has been done at the sides of the room that allows the floors to be illuminating in the sides & corners.
- Inside the massage room, one can find traditional oils that are used during massage. Masseur mixes the oil depending on the type of massage. There is also a nice candle and flowers which gives a very calming effect.
Massage Experience
I wanted to try out Swedish massage as I have been told that it helps in relaxing the entire body. The masseur used a combination of Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil & Apricot kernel oil for the same.
Massage involved rubbing different muscles in the body with long gliding strokes. Masseur applies pressure while massaging at some of the stress points in our body like – foot, thighs, back, hand and more. But every time the masseur did ask if I was comfortable before continuing. This made me feel relaxed and enjoy my entire massage without worrying. While the massage was done, one can also hear nice soothing music.
Post massage session, I was asked to take a steam sauna for 10-15 minutes. Every massage room also has a sauna room that also acts like a bathroom. The steam was not too hot, and I was able to enjoy the entire duration I spent inside. After sauna, it was time for a quick shower.
After shower, all the essential item like body-lotion, ear-buds, mirror, comb are kept on the bed. It was thought of spa to keep all items along with a bottle of water.
Undoubtedly, it was one of the most refreshing and rejuvenating experiences that left me energized.
Clearing Traditional Myth
I thought of touching on few aspects of “spa” that’s been lingering in people mind.
Spas are only available at resort/hotel(s) and don’t operate as a standalone entity. This thought has been more applicable in the past but not now.
The cost of spa treatment is high and can’t be afforded. Well, when you look at the price for spa offered by Exhale, one would realize that its very much affordable.
People raise an eye-brow and sometimes look down upon anyone visiting spa. Times have changed as many people have started visiting spa(s) and realize its benefits.
Spa is not meant for woman. In present generation, everyone speaks and follows gender equality, spa(s) are visited by both man and woman.
Massage in spa can result in sprain. The masseurs go through rigorous training and take certification before qualifying to massage. One does need to worry as the masseurs are experienced in the art. Also, as an individual, its upon us to raise our hand and ask the masseur to stop when needed.
Weight loss can be done by getting traditional massage. Performing massage regularly along with diet controller can help in losing weight.
Different Types of Massage
There are different types of massage to focus on different aspects of the body. But whatever massage is taken, one can feel relaxed and rejuvenated than before.
Traditional Thai Massage
The traditional Thai massage is a deep, full-body treatment, starting at the feet and progressing up to the head. Using a sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements, the recipient’s body is moved, loosened and stretched.
Thai Aroma Therapy
Thai aroma massage is a blend of East and West techniques, comprising of Thai-style deep massage with yoga stretching combined with sophisticated western-style Swedish massage. Aroma massage therapy uses highly concentrated essential plant oils, along with the massage oil.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper & lower back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Balinese Massage
Balinese massage is a form of traditional Indonesian massage, originating from the island of Bali. This massage involves a combination of acupressure, reflexology & aroma therapy into one session. Often used for relaxation, this type of massage also helps loosen muscles and ease pain.
Swedish Massage
As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart.
Exhale Signature Massage
The Exhale Signature Massage is a combination of Foot Reflexology (see below) and techniques used in the Traditional Thai Massage, and focuses on the following areas of your body – foot, shoulder, back, neck and head, in that very order.
Food Reflexology
Foot Reflexology, also called zone therapy, is the technique of applying pressure to the feet using the thumb and fingers. This massage is based on the notion that each body part is represented on the feet and that applying the right amount of pressure on specific areas of your feet can have therapeutic effects in other parts of your body.
Final Thoughts
It was a great experience visiting one of the best spa’s in Bangalore that’s got some great looking interiors. The clean massage rooms and experienced masseurs can make anyone get a relaxing massage. It was also good to talk to an extremely passionate and knowledgeable owner of the spa. I specially recommend this spa to everyone in the city to rejuvenate.
