YumYumDilli serves tasty North Indian food in Hennur
On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I was searching for restaurants serving North Indian food and do home-delivery. Well, my search gave me plenty of restaurant that I had ordered before and few new ones. Among the new eateries, YumYumDilli caught my attention and I found that they deliver to my area. I checked out the menu and found that they have plenty of combo options along with individual items. They also had 1+1 option, selecting 2 combos with same tag (BOGO) resulted in combo with lower price being given for free. Well, this made the perfect setting for a great Sunday meal.
Home Delivery
There used to very few restaurants in the past that would focus on home delivery. Over the past 4-5 years, the number restaurants doing home-delivery has grown exponentially. And the new trend is to only setup kitchen and focus on only home-delivery. This lets the restaurant focus on serving quality food which pleases customers. The outlets focusing on delivery have tie-up with multiple food-delivery companies that only pick-up and drop service.
Recently, I found an established brand like Mani’s Dum Biryani only take the same approach for their Kalyan Nagar branch. This could also because of unavailability of enough space to start a dine-in or high-rental costs.
Yum Yum Dilli, the new delivery only restaurant seems to focus only on home-delivery. They are focussed on serving only North Indian & Mughlai food. The brand seems to have opened up nearly 5 outlets at one shot across Bangalore (Koramangala, Indiranagar, Sarjapur Road, Whitefiled & Hennur). Their variety and pricing attracted me to select the eatery.
Food & Drinks
The elaborate menu did confuse me initially but then I decided to try stick with combos.
Veg Purani Dilli Ki Thai
This was one of the best combo I have eaten in a long time. It came with Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhani, Kachumber, 2 Laccha Paratha and Jeera Rice.
Paneer subzi tasted good as the tomato gravy was thick and had lots of butter/makkhan added. It tasted very good with the Laccha Paratha. Dal Makhani also tasted very good as the dal was well cooked & gravy was creamy. It went along well with both the Jeera Rice and Paratha. Kachumber had finely grated tomato, onions, cucumber & finely grated green chillies flavoured with tangy lemon. The salad was very good and I enjoyed the same along with the main dishes.
Palak Paneer with Laccha Paratha
Another wonderful combo that came with a full bowl of Palak Paneer, 3 pieces of Laccha Paratha and Kachumber.
Palak Paneer tasted very good as the palak gravy was thick and paneer was very soft. I enjoyed the gravy subzi along with the laccha paratha.
There are other combos like this with Laccha Paratha, works perfect for someone who wants to avoid rice.
Paneer Bhurji with Bun Maska
The Bhurji tasted awesome as it had the finely crumbled Paneer with tomato, onion and various spices. Green chillies, coriander, turmeric also seem to have been added in perfect proportion. It tasted very good with the Buns which were soft and fresh. The portion size of the bhurji was very good. I could not finish the complete bhurji with the given buns and ended up eating with brown bread at home.
Meerut Ka Jaljeera
This drink served in a bottle, seemed to be the perfect item to be taken after a heavy meal. If you are drinking in intervals, ideally shake the bottle to let the Jal Jeera mix well with the water. The drink also tastes good when served chilled in fridge.
Overall Experience
It was a great experience ordering food and eating the various combos from this eatery. I loved all the combos and the drinks that were served. My top pick among the combos would be Veg Purani Dilli Ki Thali that has plenty of variety in one combo. I loved the colourful packaging and the nice pictures on them. I would only advice the restaurant to rethink on packaging of gravy dishes as the liquid seem to slightly leak out of the boxes. Otherwise, everything else is good and would want them to maintain the consistent taste. I rate my experience at 4.0/5.
My rating in other departments.
Food – 4.0/5
Drinks – 4.0/5
Packaging – 3.75/5
WFM – 4.0/5
Food for 2 at this restaurant will come up to anywhere between INR 300-600.
