Cafe Max – Cosy Hangout Place in Indiranagar
Café Max is one of the popular places to visit in the Indiranagar area. It is located on the 3rd floor of Max Mueller Bhavan which is the best place for learning German in the city. It is a casual café located on the rooftop, which is quite airy and they serve Europen food along with Coffee & Pastries. I recently visited the place to have a lunch meeting with a friend. Let me share my experience.
Ambiance
A very cosy looking place that is naturally ventilated. The place can probably accommodate around 25-40 people during the peak time.
Drinks
Hot Chocolate with Raspberry
This was one of the best Hot Chocolate I have had in recent times. It had very little milk, more of chocolate and hot-water. There were options for choosing the topping on the Hot Chocolate that had country names. I chose the German Style which meant that Raspberry would be added on the Hot Chocolate. The taste of the Chocolate was quite evident but the Raspberry topping was giving a good after taste.
Virgin Mojito
A drink that was presented very well in a nice-looking glass. The drink tasted pretty good and my friend ended up gulping it completely.
Food
Menu is quite elaborate and have plenty of options including – Starters, Soups, Sandwiches, Italian Pasta, Main Course (Vegetarian, Fish & Quiche, Chicken, Veal, Beef, Pork & Sausages), Coffee, Tea, Cold beverages and Pastries. They also have special section for Breakfast and Kids as well.
Mediterranean Crepes
It was made with Homemade Crepes filled with Ricotta Cheese, Mushrooms and Spinach. The crepe was topped with Dill Flavoured White Sauce. I loved the tasted and ended up eating almost 90% of it instead of sharing with my friend. The dish was also plated and presented very well.
Roasted Vegetable Sandwich
This sandwich came with Zucchini, Bell Pepper, Cheese and Lettuce. There were 3 choices of bread including – White bread, Homemade Multigrain Bread, Homemade Focaccia Bread. I went with the 3rd options i.e., Homemade Focaccia bread. The sandwich had all the veggies as mentioned but lacked in terms of spices and seasoning. I would have wishes for more cream, some cheese and Tomato puree to add the taste. The sandwich was quite dry and needed to be taken along with a drink.
Gnocchi Chef Style
An Italian Pasta made with soft dough Potato, flour dumplings and served with tomato sauce. This was one of the most unique looking pasta I have had in the recent time. I initially had my doubts as I have been used to seeing Pasta to be either Penne or Spaghetti. But this Pasta was served in the form of Dumpling.
Overall Experience
It was a good experience of being at a Café and trying out new dishes. The café has got the best ambiance that I have seen in the recent times. The food has got some unique taste but there is a definite scope for improvement. I do want to visit this place again and try out more dishes. With my current experience, I rate this place at 3.5/5.
