NH7 Refuel – Good Food on NH7

Advertisements

NH7 is the National Highway that connects Kanyakumari to Varnasi.  We Bangaloreans, better know this to be the route on which Bangalore International Airport is present.  One of the restaurateur got a novel idea of naming a restaurant as ‘NH7 Refuel’.  It’s a place where North Indian food is available and the taste is quite good compared to others on the highway.  I had an opportunity to visit the restaurant along with family for celebrating one of my Aunt’s birthday.  Let me share my experience.

Location
From Hebbal Flyover, take the road that leads to Bangalore International Airport.  Drive across the toll-both, take 24hrs to-and-fro pass if you are only looking have lunch/dinner and get back to city.  Drive ahead towards Chikbellapur for 5-10km there is a junction and NH7 continues to the left, Devanhalli town towards the right.  Further after driving some more distance, you need to keep observing to the left side, NH7 Refuel restaurant appears to the left-side on the service road.  For reference, it is situated just next to IPC – Indian Paratha Company.

Ambiance
A woody finish from outside that is shaped like one of the country side homes.  It looks great from outside, especially during the night when the inverted ‘V’ shaped entrance is well lit up.
Interiors are also quite good with seats that are well spaced out.  Tables are also quite huge for being able to keep plenty of items.
The is also a terrace section on the 1st floor which is excellent place to dine in during the night.
Plenty of parking space is available on the service road.  There is also a plan to have a separate parking next to the restaurant.
Huge plasma TVs in which sports events are telecasted or music-videos are played for entertainment.
I need to make a special mention of 2 rabbits, that there at the restaurant and they are brought out when kids come.

Food
This is a place that people would not mind driving out of city, anything for a good meal.  Currently, they are serving North Indian food and have sufficient options.

Baby Corn Manchurian – A well made Manchurian in which the baby corn was well cooked and the masalas around tasted good.  I wish they serve some good chutney to go along with the manchurian.

Paneer Butter Masala – A good gravy subzi with nice and soft dumplings of paneer, made it the perfect gravy dish to be taken along the Indian breads.

Veg Kadai – This was a dish suggested by the person taking our order.  It had the right amount of spices, gravy and veggies.  The taste was quite wonderful and I thought that it was one of the best I have eaten in Bangalore.

Butter Kulcha & Cheese Naan – Both the Indian breads were quite soft and well cooked in Tandoor.  They need to be consumed quickly otherwise it could get a little hard and will need reheating.

Spring Onion Cheese Paratha – A speciality at this place which has masala that goes into spring onion.  The masala is stuffed inside and it can consumed by itself with raita/curd or with gravy subji.

Vegetable Dum Biryani – Combination of Biryani, Salan, Onion pieces along with Raita is a lovely combination.  The taste with salan and raita was good.  I would have wanted it to have more masala and a little spicier.

Drinks
There were no drinks listed in the menu but on enquiry they did share list of drinks that could be prepared & served.

Chocolate Milkshake – A good drink that had right amount of chocolate, milk and probably some chocolate ice-cream was added before mixing in the juicer.  There is nice lining of chocolate inside the glass which seem to have been done before pouring the milkshake.

Strawberry Milkshake – Another standard drink, which I thought was done well.  It had the right amount of sweetness and flavour of strawberry in it.

Lassi (Sweet) – One of the best drink to be taken during hot summer days.  It was served chilled and sugar level seemed just about enough.  The churning seems to have been done quite well to make the flavour quite uniform.

Overall Experience
It was a great experience driving away from city and having good North Indian food on the NH7 highway.  Next time while travelling towards Airport / Hyderabad / Drive away from city, will surely come back to this place.  The food options were good and enjoyed the flavours in them.  I specially recommend that people visit this place.  I heard from the person running the outlet that they were planning to introduce new items after they are settled with the current offering.  I am sure they will make them well and it will be liked by people.

My current rating would be 4.0/5 for the experience.  Rating in other departments.
