Saffron – Good Vegetarian Restaurant in Banaswadi, Bangalore

Saffron is one of the very few restaurants where you get good North Indian food in the Banaswadi area.  The outlet has been around for more than 7 years, so we know that it is an established restaurant.  I am still wondering, how I have missed visiting this place.  Probably I was waiting for the right moment to come before I could visit the place.  It came recently when I wanted to go out for dinner, before heading to watch movie.IMG_20180125_195622

A neatly setup restaurant that has nicely arranged tables with basic cutlery setup on each of them.  There are 3-4 columns that has tables for 4-6 or even for larger group.  There are some nice paintings inside the restaurant and the lighting is pretty good.  IMG_20180125_195629The restaurant can seat nearly 40-60 guests.  There is ample parking in front of the restaurant.  I would urge early booking as the place gets crowded because of its popularity.  The menu card is also quite nice and there is nice message for people to love Vegetarian food.

Vegetarianism is a healthy lifestyle that nourishes the body, mind and soul.

Our mantra is pure, fresh and natural, making it feast for senses.

The main reason why the restaurant is quite popular in this region is the food.  I heard from many people about this place and read review as well.  I went to the restaurant and decided to let the manager suggest the items to be taken instead of ordering by myself.IMG_20180125_200937

Tamatar Aur Tulsi Ka Shorba was the perfect start to the meal.  The tomato flavour was coming out very well and the combination along with Tulsi was just perfect.IMG_20180125_201138

Took the Dragon Gobi which was had light spice and fried well. The spices in the starters was relatively lesser, I would have wanted it a little spicier with more masala.  But the taste was good, and it went along well with the ketchup served.IMG_20180125_203835

Main Course

Ordered Paneer Burji and Mutter Paneer as it was recommended by the manager.

Paneer Burji had good amount of tomato, coriander, coconut grating along with Paneer.  It tasted good along with the breads.  The only change I would want to do is add lesser chilli pieces.IMG_20180125_203840

Mutter Paneer subzi was gravy subzi and cooked well.  I liked this subzi more than the Paneer Burji and would recommend this anytime.IMG_20180125_204103

Indian Breads

Tried multiple breads including Pudina Laccha Paratha, Methi Laccha Paratha and Butter Kulcha.  All the breads were well done and went along with the curries.

There is limited options for drinks and among the available – Gulkand Lassi & Chocolate Milkshake are the best.  Specially recommend Gulkand Lassi as it tastes good and also served in a kullad.

Overall Experience

A good place to dine in with family and have some great Vegetarian food. The food on an average is pretty good and the restaurant is clean.  The service staff seem to be very knowledgeable and aware of special.  The only problem is with regards to serving staff, who seem to get busy trying to attend to multiple customers.  I specially recommend going to the place for dinner.  My current rating for the restaurant would be 4.0/5.

Rating in various departments.
Food – 4.0/5
Drinks – 4.0/5
Ambiance – 4.0/5
Service – 3.75/5
Food for 2 at this restaurant will come up to anywhere between INR 1500-2000.
