BBQD – Best Global Grill & Brewery in Bangalore
BBQD is the latest restaurant in Bangalore that serves Best Global Grill and also has a Brewery. The restaurant was previously named as ‘Made in Punjab’ which used to serve the best North Indian Food. But growing demand for BBQ among the Corporate, prompted quick change in the focus of the restaurant. This lead to the birth of BBQD which now focuses on serving BBQ food along with the North Indian food. I had my sights set on visiting this restaurant since the time of its inception nearly a month back. It was not until recently that I finally visited the restaurant.
BBQD has got some of the best interiors among any of the Fine Dining restaurants in town. Right from the entrance, it has a sheik looks which attracts the elite crowd.
View of the Distillery across the glass door is always a wonderful sight.
Variety of sitting options available to accommodate guests of varied sizes ranging from 2-16. Every seat is well setup with the cutleries making it looks elegant.
There is a bar counter, which has the taps to pour the Craft Beers. It also the place, where the best of cocktails is made.
Various live counters for Chats, Main Course, Salads and Desserts are spread out quite well. There is also a specify live dessert counter for Cotton Candy Soft Serve.
Its situated on the 2nd level of UB City right across the Farzi Café. If I were to give direction from Chinnaswamy Stadium on MG Road, drive across the Museum Road, take left at the Mallya Road where UB City is located. If you are driving across Cubbon park, Mallya Road is right across the signal. Then take the escalator right upto the 2nd level on UB City. Take the left and head straight to BBQD.
The idea of BBQ is quite good but it is also necessary to maintain the highest quality to attract customers. Food served needs to leave a lasting impression which can make customer come back again and again.
Grills on Table
Food served as part of this section are almost cooked entirely in Kitchen BBQ. But then they leave a little bit of it to be done on the dining table. There are plenty of varieties for Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians.
Vegetarians get to enjoy some of the wonderful BBQs including – Charcoal Roasted Mushrooms, Cottage Cheese, Herbed Wrapped Baby Potatoes, Cream Cauliflower & Broccoli, Cut Fruits (pineapple apple). My top picks among the BBQs were the Paneer/Cottage-Cheese and Cauliflower & Broccoli. They both were cooked and had the right amount of spices. I loved eating the BBQ items along with Groundnut Chutney, Mint Chutney, BBQ sauce, Tomato Ketchup. I specially recommend one and all to try the Groundnut chutney which was quite yummy.
Non-Vegetarian can get to enjoy the Masala Fish Tikka, Chicken, Prawn Skewer and Melting Malai Tikka. I heard from my fellow food-lovers telling that the meat was quite soft and tasted good with the spices.
Platter to Plate
These are items that are served along with the BBQs. For Vegetarians – Harabhara Kebab, Kurkure Dahi Kebab and Crispy Corn are served.
My favourite among these was the Harabhara Kebab in which the potatoes, chickpeas and spinach blended quite well. It was so tempting that I could not resist myself after eating one.
Non-Vegetarians have options of Mutton Sheekh Kebab and Chicken 65, which I heard are marinated very well and taste good.
Thin Crust Pizza
Pizza being included in the BBQ Meal, was quite exciting to hear. There is no specific flavour mentioned by whatever served is, ‘Pizza of the day’.
The Vegetarian Pizza had wonderful base, Tomato puree, Cheese, Paneer, Zucchini, Herbed spices which tasted very good. I think this one of the best pizza I have had in recent times. Though this restaurant is not an Italian restaurant, after tasting the pizza, I felt that it is one. Non-Vegetarians pizza looked quite interesting as it came with topping of Chicken & Black olives.
This is another special addition to a rather filling BBQ meal. There are options for Veg/Non-Veg. I especially loved the Veg pizza that had Paneer stuffing.
The items mentioned in the earlier sections is quite filling. But I still tried some of the items in main-course as the restaurant is very popular for North Indian Food.
I personally tried the Paneer Butter Masala, Patiala Handi , BBQ In-house Special Dal Makhani along with breads (Laccha Parantha and Butter Naan). The taste of the all the dishes were yummy and I only wishe that I had more space in my tummy to take more. Special mention of curd-rice, which tasted good and was quite creamy. Variety of paapads/chips and pickles were available.
Some of the good dishes for Non-vegetarians includes – Murgh Dum Biryani, Malabar Fish Curry and Rajasthani Laal Maas/Meat.
This is a very special section for which anyone would love to keep some additional space. There is a mix of Indian and European items – Jelabi, Nutella Gulab Jamun, Channa Rasagulla, Moist Apple Cinnamon Cake, Layered Chocolate Oreo Terrine, Little Fresh Fruit Tartlet, Tiramisu and many more. I took a bite of all the deserts and loved them.
Cotton Candy is made in front of the customer, wrapped around a cone and served with homemade soft-serve ice-cream. We can choose from various flavours (Chocolate, Vanilla, combination of Chocolate & Vanilla) and the toppings (nuts, chocolate chips, Tuty fruity). This is one of the most unique dessert I have had in Bangalore till date.
This restaurant along with the Farzi have now have a massive advantage due to the presence of the Craft Beers – Hefeweizen, Indian Pale Ale, Masala Saison and Chocolate Stout.
My favourite among these is the Hefeweizen which is a German Wheat beer with flavours of banana and clove. Masala Saison is also another favourite that has subtle notes of Orange, Lemon, Pepper and Clove. These beers go along very well with the BBQ meal.
This was one of the best BBQ Meal I have had in a long time. There are plenty of favourites dishes that I have mentioned as the top-picks in the earlier sections. Loved the idea of serving Pizza, Momos and Cotton Candy, which makes it quite a unique meal. This is one of the places, I would love to dine-out with my family and friends. A special thanks to the staff for taking good care and being quite prompt.
